ReviewNG DRP test run by Avans Hogeschool

A month ago we were contacted by a teacher at Avans Hogeschool asking if they could use our ReviewNG DRP environment in one of their courses. We are always working to perfect our products, so we were happy to have our online distribution planning software subjected to the scrutiny of a group of university students. It turned out to be an interesting experience for both them and us, so be sure to read on.

Ruby and Rails devroom FOSDEM 2008

Last Sunday, the Belgian Ruby User Group (of which XaoP is a proud member) organized the first Ruby and Rails devroom at FOSDEM. We had four presentations, all interesting, and we had a great turnout. We actually had people turning back because there was really no more room where they could sit or stand. If the fates allow it, we'll be back next year with a bigger room, a more extensive program, and lots of Ruby goodness.

For those who have missed this grand events, the presentations have been gathered on SlideShare and are linked to from this page. Enjoy!

MirrorNG released

As of today, MirrorNG has been officially released. MirrorNG can
serve as both a backup solution and a migration tool
for EMC Documentum.

MirrorNG builds on the strong foundation laid out
by ActiveDCTM, our Ruby interface
to EMC Documentum. It combines
our expertise with EMC Documentum and the power of expression of the
Ruby programming language, resulting in what we believe to be a strong
product.

Ruby Internships

The last week of September 2007, Tim Brys started as an intern at XAOP, we will give him
a Ruby learning experience he would never find in a classroom.

His efforts on a docbook publishing engine will likely
be used by the XAOP team and some
customers, long after he will return to
school.

Are you a student looking for an internship and interested in Ruby ?

XAOP will take 2 interns next year(2008). Internships in
Belgium are typically 12 weeks long. We are looking forward to
 receiving your application by e-mail.

dctmruby released

Today we have delivered dctmruby as opensource on Rubyforge.
Dctmruby is a thin Ruby wrapper around the DMCL C interface of EMC Documentum
It provides the low-level commands used to communicate with the Documentum server.

The dctmruby layer is part of our ActiveDCTM module in the ReviewNG enterprise framework.
This ActiveDCTM module makes it very easy for us to hook up Documentum in the Ruby on Rails framework.
With ActiveDCTM and ReviewNG, XAOP has a faster, more expressive Documentum framework that is both easier to use and manage.
